13th Kerala Queer Pride
October 21, 2024
The 13th Kerala Queer Pride in Thiruvananthapuram celebrated diversity with four days of vibrant events blending celebration and activism. Inaugurated with a campaign tour at East Fort, highlights included the first-ever queer students’ summit, panel discussions on constitutional rights and migration, an art exhibition, film screenings, and cultural evenings. The flagship Pride March culminated in performances and a DJ night at Manaveeyam Veedhi.
Center for Habilitation Inaguration

The Chilla Center for Habilitation, a training facility aimed to support individuals with autism and other mental or physical challenges, was inaugurated by Hon. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Shri. G. R. Anil. The training is offered free of charge to economically disadvantaged individuals and focuses on enhancing daily life skills, identifying their unique abilities, and providing specialized professional training to help them secure sustainable income opportunities.
Karuthal Project Inauguration

‘Karuthal’ project was inaugurated by Hon. M.P. Mr. Adoor Prakash in Attingal. The initiative aims to deliver affordable, high-quality services through trained youth to support individuals in need, including the bedridden, elderly, and differently-abled.In the meeting presided over by Anannia Chairman Mr. Mr. D. Raghuthaman, T. Sunil Kumar (Welcome Committee Chairman) delivered the welcome speech and Mr. Joby A. S. (Secretary, Anannia) proposed the vote of thanks.

A new training center, ‘Chilla’ Center for Habilitation, is being established in Karakulam’s Mukola Ward to support individuals with autism and other mental or physical challenges. The center will provide free training for economically disadvantaged individuals, focusing on daily life skills and vocational training to enable sustainable income generation. To ensure the success of this event, a welcome committee was convened at Chilla.

Indian’s first transgender survey report reaching a global audience

Trans Lives Matter, a report of the seminal Kerala State Transgender Survey 2014—A survey detailing the experiences of transgender people in Kerala—will be catalogued in the Library of Congress, USA, one of the world’s largest libraries. The report was received on April 17th, 2022 by Ms. Viji, to be preserved for hundreds of years to come.
COVID-19 Relief Program

The toll of the COVID-19 pandemic is felt in many ways. Unemployed and with no means of sustenance, large parts of our population are left starving and without basic medical supplies. In light of this fact, we at Anannia have cooperated with Punyam, a California-based charitable organisation, to distribute 5 lakh rupees worth of food and medicine kits in the Karakulam panchayat. Food and Civil Supplies Minister G. R. Anil inagurated the program.
